Riding in the Swedish countryside
– a natural adventure!
Just one hour south of Stockholm, enjoy the natural beauty, fresh air and wonderful hospitality of a Swedish riding holiday. Riding Sörmland offers you a great opportunity to explore Sweden by horse back with all your food and lodgings taken care of.
You will be following a trail between host farms in the beautiful county of Sörmland. Your route will take you through rambling farmland, peaceful forests and past idyllic lakes and some grand Swedish country houses.
You have the choice of hiring a horse and personal guide, or go by horse and carriage with an experienced driver.
The Riding Option
The trail, each day, varies in length between 15 km and 32 km, and will include a stop for a prepared lunch – a welcome rest for you and the horse! After lunch you will continue on to your host farm where you will receive a warm welcome. Your horse will be given a place to rest, and you will be served a traditional Swedish dinner. After a good sleep in a comfortable bed, a hearty breakfast will set you on your way for another day’s adventure. (Maximum 5 people in a party)
Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrive and meet your horse. Settle in and have your first Swedish dinner.
- Days 2–4: Your personal guided rides between host farms.
- Day 5: Final day’s ride to reach the end of the trail.
- Day 6: After a good night’s sleep, you go home taking with you the memories of the beautiful Swedish countryside.
Price
890 Euros per person for all food, horse rental and accommodation for 5 days. If you want to shorten your holiday by one or more days, the cost would be reduced by 150 euros per day.
The Horse and Carriage Option
An alternative option is to take day trips from a host farm, taking in the scenery from the comfort of a horse and carriage, whilst still enjoying the wonderful food and hospitality within the Riding Option. (Maximum 4 passengers in a carriage)
Price
170 Euros per day for rental of horse, carriage and driver.
90 Euros per person per day for all food and accommodation.
General information
Another option for non-riders in your party is to explore by bicycle or to enjoy the countryside in your own time, whilst still enjoying the hospitality of the host farms. - Riding Sörmland is open between 15 th May – 15 th August each year.
- Stockholm-Skavsta Airport (South Stockholm) is only 30 minutes drive from the trail. There are many low cost airlines flying into this airport.
- Taxi transfers to and from your arrival point can be arranged at an additional cost.
- All booking agents, guides and host farmers speak English.
- When booking, please advise of any special food requirements.
- Please be aware that this is an adventure holiday in the outdoors.
